I feel morally gray for doing it, but I a) tried to contact the original owners and b) went through the proper channels to obtain it. While the move isn't completely altruistic since it helps promote my comic (cheapest advertising I ever bought), it also prevents people looking for White Ninja to get forwarded to a site selling pharmaceuticals or Russian mail-order brides. Welp, the domain expired in September and I registered it myself and pointed it "Soopah". I tried contacting the authors, but they were unreachable by any means I used (email/twitter/facebook). Then mid-summer this year, the site went offline completely, just forwarding to a parking page. A few years ago, the authors' productivity tapered off a bit until they weren't producing anything at all.
